Multi Drug Testing
INSTANT DRUG SCREENING
For instant drug screening, Jobfit generally uses a multi drug 6 Panel urine drug testing kit which tests for illicit drugs including:
-
Cannabis
-
Opiates
-
Methamphetamines
-
Amphetamines
-
Benzodiazepines
-
Cocaine
Alcohol testing is conducted using a hand-held alcohol breathalyser.
If random screening is carried out onsite, instant urine drug screening is the most common method used, as it is accurate and efficient. Instant urine testing can offer results in 5 minutes, and will ensure that your employees are fit for daily duties, however they do not provide the same standard as a laboratory analysis
Negative/Non-Negative?
There are 2 general test categories available: screening tests and confirmation tests. The screening test is to separate patients that are negative from those that are not. The samples that test not negative (i.e. positive) with the screening test, should be subjected to a confirmation test. The confirmation test will identify the specific drug present, or if the confirmation test is negative classify the screening test result as a falsepositive screening test.
Confirmation
All non-negative test results must be sent to a certified laboratory for confirmation.
it is critical to understand that a non-negative test does not imply that the test was either negative or positive. Think of it as inconclusive. What happens following a non-negative drug test result depends on the employer’s drug and alcohol policy. In most cases, a non-negative test will suspend worker duties, particularly anything safety-sensitive, until confirmation testing results are available. Labs generally complete confirmation testing fairly quickly for non-negative tests (typically 3-5 business days)
